Join Us in Washington, DC

CCIH will hold an in-person conference June 9-11, 2025, in Washington, DC.

Our theme this year is Change Agents for All. Faith actors are change agents: those preaching from the pulpit and lay leaders in communities. They provide care and use their voices for integral mission: demonstration and proclamation including health equity and justice, advocacy, resilience, being salt and light locally and globally, bridging gaps and misconceptions, and promoting good health practices and health care.

Join us as we explore how we are change agents. Are we empowering communities to be agents of change? Are we establishing resilient health systems that are accessible to all, including those with disabilities? Are we being the salt and light for all? We will also explore the following subthemes and how they drive change:

  • Religious Actors as Change Agents
  • Youth as Change Agents
  • Communities as Change Agents
  • Health Systems as Change Agents
  • Technology as a Change Agent

Our guiding verse is from the book of Matthew: “You are the salt of the earth…You are the light of the world.” Matthew 5:13a & 5:14a.

Traveling from Outside the United States

The deadline to request a visa invitation letter from CCIH has passed, and obtaining a visa is often a lengthy process. We hope you have a valid visa that will expire after December 2025 in order to travel to the conference.

U.S. Visa Waiver Program

If you are traveling from a country that participates in the U.S. Visa Waiver Program, you must apply for travel authorization through the Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA). You can check your eligibility and apply here.

  • Apply as early as possible and at least 72 hours before your flight.
  • An approved ESTA allows you to travel to the U.S. for up to 90 days for tourism or business.
  • The fee is $21 USD, and approvals are usually valid for 2 years (or until your passport expires).

Below are some brief travel instructions to the conference. For more detailed directions and instructions, please see this page from Catholic University.

Airport: If you are flying to the conference there are three airports in the region. Dulles International Airport (IAD) is 55 km / 34 miles from Catholic University and will likely have the most international flights. Washington Reagan National Airport (DCA) is 12 km / 8 miles from Catholic University, but it may not serve as many international flights. Baltimore Washington International Airport (BWI) is an additional option. BWI is 50 km / 31 miles from Catholic University. Please check distance from each airport to Catholic University in Washington, DC when making your flight selection. Catholic University is located at 620 Michigan Avenue, NE, Washington, DC 20064.

Metrorail:  From Washington National or Dulles airport, you can take the Metrorail to Catholic University (this may take more than one hour depending on which airport you use). Catholic University is directly across from the Brookland/CUA stop on the Red Line of the Washington, DC Metrorail system. Once you reach Brookland/CUA Metro stop, exit and follow the signs for Catholic University. When you are on the street level, Maloney Hall is across the street, directly in front of you (although the entrance is on the other side of the building) and the Residence Hall is a short walk north along McCormack Road.

Other methods: You may also take a taxi or car service such as Uber or Lyft from the airport. Please download the Uber or Lyft app before arriving in Washington, DC, and be prepared to use a credit or debit card (they do not accept cash.)

Parking: If you plan to drive, you must register in advance for a permit - daily or weekly permits are available. Visit Catholic University Parking for the link to register. You may register now for parking in June. Parking is available at a daily rate of $10 per day. The closest parking lot is just north of Maloney Hall. See the lot called Pangborn lot marked in purple, and bordering John F. McCormack Road NE in the map here.

Please note that all attendees will also be expected to follow and comply with all national and/or local requirements of the United States of America (see CDC travel notices).

Pack at least one or more face masks. CCIH encourages everyone to travel with face masks and use them as you feel comfortable.

  • If you are sick, we ask that you do not travel to the conference.
  • If you start to feel sick, please wear a mask while you are around others and leave or do not come into the venue to avoid transmitting illness.
  • If you just feel more comfortable wearing a mask, that is welcome also.

We encourage you to follow best practice guidelines for frequent hand washing/sanitizing and covering your cough.
