The Business Case for Faith-based Health Systems
2022
Countries can’t realize major health goals without including faith-based health partners. In this webinar, held May 18, 2022, we explored the advantages of faith-based organizations in health. They are known to provide holistic, high-quality care; have deep roots in communities; remain in areas traumatized by conflict and disasters after other organizations have left; and have sound, cost-effective management, technical excellence and adaptive programs, such as community outreach. Faith actors also reach communities and areas that are not served by other health providers, making them crucial partners in a health system. We heard from Vuyelwa Sidile-Chitimbire, Executive Director, Zimbabwe Association of Church-related Hospitals; Dr. Priya John, General Secretary, Christian Medical Association of India; Gene Peuse, Senior Public-Private Partnership Advisor, USAID Tanzania; and Jenelle Williams, Director of Programs, Global Health Action and co-chair of the CCIH Leadership & Governance Working Group moderated the discussion.
