Laying the Foundation for Sustainability: Evaluative Case Study of Orphan Care in Kenya Print

Laying the Foundation for Sustainability: An Evaluative Case Study Report on a Project for OVC Care and Support in Kenya |Prepared by World Concern Development Organization, Kenya May 2012

The case study examined the sustainability of the outcomes of a project for Orphans and Vulnerable Children that a coalition of Christian organizations led by World Concern conducted in three countries for six years with USAID/PEPFAR funding. The study indicated that 84% of the churches continued the ministry to support children orphaned by HIV/AIDS for three to five years after the assistance ended and that churches and community groups who participated in the program were significantly more likely to include spiritual and emotional support for the children than those who did not participate. Ninety percent believed the assistance from World Concern and partner organizations was essential for them in supporting their orphans and vulnerable children and cited the organization's Christian identity and values. | View the Report
